Senior Exploration Geologist

About the role

As the Senior Exploration Geologist, you will lead safety, project supervision, and the exploration budget. You will oversee and lead the strategic conversion and update of existing gold resources at the Red Lake Operation. Responsibilities include management, collection, and interpretation of geological, drilling, structural, and geochemical data.

Key result areas

• Supervise Resource Definition activities within the exploration team, applying software, target generation, geologic interpretation, cost tracking/monitoring, and contractor management.
• Develop and deliver a strategic exploration plan and budget to contribute reserves and resources to the life-of-mine production profile at Red Lake.
• Ensure QA/QC practices are followed and that projects adhere to industry exploration best practices and are JORC compliant.
• Liaise with mine geology, resource geology, engineering, operations and contractors to foster communication and teamwork.
• Deliver monthly reports on drilling and resource definition activities.
• Coordinate detailed exploration budgets using cross sections, 3D models, engineering input, and cost estimates.
• Prioritize exploration targets and rank them within the resource pipeline.
• Provide safety leadership for the department and foster a healthy, accident-free work environment.
• Monitor activities to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and licensing requirements to minimize risk.
• Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate behaviours aligned with Evolution Mining values.
• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and corporate policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As the Senior Exploration Geologist, you should have a BSc in Geology or Earth Science and the ability to acquire a Professional Status in Ontario (PGeo). The following qualifications and attributes are desired:

• At least 5 years of experience supporting geology and exploration activities.
• Experience in orogenic styles of mineralization.
• Experience managing drilling contractors, drill scheduling, and logistics coordinating multiple underground drill rigs.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Leapfrog software.
• Knowledge of exploration standards and regulations.
• Underground mine geology experience is desirable.
• Self-discipline, motivation and regulation; attention to detail and methodical approach.
• Articulate, highly numerate and literate; strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Initiative and a collaborative team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Background in Leapfrog, IoGas, Deswik or Acquire is an advantage.
