Job description

Are you a Senior Fullstack Developer who has experience deploying applications in container environments (OpenShift/Kubernetes). Do you have experience mentoring and training junior team members and looking for your next project?

We're looking for a Senior Fullstack Developer for an initial 12 month contract! The position can be based remotely, with a strong preference for previous Public Sector experience.

Responsibilities
  • Engaging in meetings and online discussions during regular business hours
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies, estimation exercises, demos and community presentations
  • Working on assigned tickets that will include writing code for front end development, database and back end integration and monitoring
  • Providing software development team mentorship to up to 4 full stack developers
  • Advising developers on full stack development best practices
  • Helping with coding patterns and best practices to solve complex problems
  • Advising on writing code that is testable, mocking in test frameworks (i.e. Jest)
  • Reviewing code (PR review) and making meaningful, constructive comments to improve code quality
Qualifications

Required Skills

3+ years of experience in the last 5 years as a senior full stack developer in an Agile environment.

Proven Leadership skills
  • Mentoring other team members and helping with their professional growth
  • Guiding Agile Scrum and DevOps teams
  • Providing constructive and tactful feedback on code reviews
  • Contributing to setting and maintaining a psychologically safe work environment, e.g. National Standard
  • Experience estimating uncertainty and workload
Proven Technical Skills
  • Application architecture
  • Cloud native deployment in OpenShift/Kubernetes
  • Open-source code development in GitHub
  • Advanced web development with React
  • User interface and user experience development and testing
  • Open-source databases: MongoDB or PostgreSQL
  • Working in a DevOps "you build it, you run it" model

Strong preference for previous BC Government experience
