SGH has diverse business interests including energy supply & marketing, oilfield services, logistics and transportation, amateur & professional sports, alcoholic spirits, real estate, technology incubation, aerospace and defense, and insurance solutions.

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in providing financial insight, analysis, and strategic support to the VP Finance & Corporate Development for a multi-generational family office. This individual will help drive informed decision-making across investment management, corporate development, and broader family enterprise activities. The role blends traditional financial analysis with strategic thinking and operational support in a dynamic, values-driven environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive 3-statement financial models supporting portfolio performance, liquidity management, and long-term capital structure planning.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and modelling for corporate development initiatives, including evaluations of private investments, M&A opportunities, and new business ventures.
  • Prepare financial reports and dashboards to summarize investment performance, balance sheet trends and cash flow projections for portfolio company investments.
  • Evaluate capital expenditure requests using financial metrics such as Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Return on Net Assets (RONA).
  • Assist with the preparation of board decks and presentation materials for family governance meetings, board presentations, and meetings with external advisors.
  • Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and competitor data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with accounting, tax, and investment teams to ensure accuracy and alignment of financial data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; CFA or CBV preferred.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills with proficiency in Excel and ability to provide insightful analyses.
  • Ability to understand the impacts on P&L and balance sheet from impacts to key operating levers.
  • Proven ability to develop thorough financial analyses from the ground up and effectively communicate reasonable, accurate, and defendable conclusions.
  • Complete proficiency in preparing financial models, data analytics, and presentation skills.
  • Occasional travel is required for this role.
