Participate in Meaningful Work – As a Senior Financial Analyst at the Legislative Assembly Office (LAO), you will analyze financial documents, prepare financial reports, and deliver customized, responsive services. You will work closely with LAO branches, caucuses, and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to communicate year-end processing guidelines, resolve issues, ensure audit requirements are met, and complete annual budgets. This includes managing activities to meet strict deadlines and regulatory requirements, and ensuring all transactions and reconciliations comply with Public Sector Accounting Standards and legislative guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze financial documents and prepare financial reports.
  • Deliver customized, responsive financial services to LAO branches, caucuses, and MLAs.
  • Communicate year-end processing guidelines and resolve arising issues; ensure audit requirements are met and annual budgets are completed.
  • Manage activities to meet strict deadlines and regulatory requirements; ensure transactions and reconciliations comply with Public Sector Accounting Standards and legislative guidelines.
  • Communicate and provide information to Treasury Board and Finance and ensure timely public posting of quarterly MLA expense disclosure reports.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a related field such as accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Completion of a recognized accounting designation program (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) is required; minimum of 3 years of significant and progressive directly related experience post-designation.
  • Completion of CPA Canada designation is preferred; experience working with Public Sector Accounting Standards and financial analysis is expected.
  • You are self-motivated with strong analytical, financial acumen, and excellent communication and advisory skills; public service experience is an advantage.
  • Candidates who do not yet have their designation but are actively working toward it may be considered at a lower classification.
