Job description

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role provides advanced financial analysis and strategic support to multiple business units. You will partner closely with Operations Managers to monitor performance, analyze trends, and deliver actionable insights that drive informed decision‑making.

Work Location: Corporate Office in Acheson, AB.

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 annually.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – providing the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.

Schedule: Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do
  • Analyze monthly financial results against budget and forecast, identify key variances and trends, and communicate insights to Operations and Finance leadership.
  • Prepare, present, and explain monthly financial reporting packages to senior management to support informed decision‑making.
  • Partner closely with Operations Managers to provide financial clarity, answer questions, and support operational decisions.
  • Lead trend and KPI analysis by integrating data from multiple sources and translating results into actionable insights.
  • Develop ad‑hoc reports and analytical tools related to customers, pricing, margins, and performance opportunities, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate and support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, critically reviewing and challenging assumptions.
  • Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial records and results.
  • Support internal controls, compliance, and financial reporting standards through collaboration with branch operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, reporting enhancements, and year‑end audit support.
What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (or comparable post‑secondary education) and at least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally supporting senior leaders. Additional qualifications include:

  • CPA designation, or near completion.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel).
  • Working knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS.
  • Highly analytical and detail‑oriented with strong business acumen.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and influence stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
