What you can expect to do here:
  • You will participate in the design, integration and commissioning of control and protection systems for hydropower generating stations and dams, including industrial programmable logic controllers, protection relays, human‑machine interfaces and communication networks.
  • You will develop control diagrams, control logic and sequencing of control systems for both major and balance of plant (BoP) equipment.
  • You will select, configure and coordinate protection relays for generators, transformers, lines and BoP equipment.
  • You will design BoP equipment (such as low and medium voltage and AC/DC distribution systems, transformers, diesel‑powered generators and other related equipment) and controls for mechanical hoisting equipment for hydropower generating stations and dams.
  • You will conduct electrical studies (power flow, short circuit, lighting, load, etc.).
  • You will contribute to the preparation of plans, specifications, reports and other technical documents for electrical, control and other BoP equipment as part of dams and hydraulic and hydropower structures.
  • You will ensure designs comply with guidelines, code requirements, regulations and other reference documents.
  • You will support project managers in the technical planning, oversight and coordination of projects.
  • You will work closely with technical teams already in place to coordinate engineering work.
  • You will supervise engineering resources, including technicians and other engineers, during project delivery.
  • You will mentor the team, sharing your experience and best practices.
  • You will oversee quality assurance for various deliverables.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or any other equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in electrical system design for hydropower generating stations and dams (required).
  • OIQ membership and the title of engineer (required).
  • ASP Construction card (the position requires occasional travel).
  • Sense of initiative, proactive attitude, resourcefulness, autonomy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Versatility and a broad range of knowledge are assets.

Salary range (in British Columbia):$124 800 - $171 600

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
