Overview

Senior Director, Energy & Power, Corporate, Infrastructure and Project Finance Group - Toronto role at Fitch Ratings. The position is based in New York, Chicago, or Toronto and reports to the Head of Energy and Power, Corporate, Infrastructure and Project Finance Group for North America.

Fitch Ratings’ Energy and Power, Corporate, Infrastructure and Project Finance Group is seeking a Senior Director to focus on the analysis, execution and rating of infrastructure and project finance transactions, specifically energy and power infrastructure assets in the US and Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Lead ratings analysis, execution and research on new and existing North American transactions.
  • Evaluate innovative credit structures and participate in global criteria development.
  • Identify trends, assess credit impact and highlight these trends in updated industry and market-focused reports and presentations.
  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and legal documents to produce ratings, publish credit reports, and contribute to special research reports.
  • Maintain a strong external network and profile, representing Fitch at industry conferences, issuer meetings / site visits, webinars, and media communications.
  • Develop and grow relationships with other analytical groups at Fitch to ensure analytical consistency and efficient transaction execution across groups.
  • Mentor junior members of the Energy and Power Infrastructure team.
What You Need To Have
  • 10+ years of solid project finance experience in energy and power infrastructure, including development of credit or underwriting approaches.
  • Proven project finance and infrastructure credit skills gained in a bank credit department, a rating agency, buy-side credit department, etc.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Open-minded and able to think expansively about opportunities and risks in the evolving infrastructure landscape.
  • Excellent modeling skills and thorough familiarity with spreadsheet-based financial models.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex structures and ask probing questions to issuers and advisers.
  • Proven ability to lead and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to additional responsibilities as required.
  • Employee management experience.
What Would Make You Stand Out
  • Rating agency experience or ratings advisory work.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure and project finance.
  • Background in capital markets and / or credit analysis.
  • Experience interpreting complex legal documents such as bank agreements and bond indentures.
  • Strong leadership and ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.
  • CFA certification.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business or Public Administration (preferred).

Compensation (New York and Chicago roles)

For New York and Chicago roles only : Expected base pay ranges between $190,000 and $225,000 per year. Actual salaries are determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is part of Fitch’s total compensation package and may include additional compensation such as bonuses and incentives.
