Overview

Join our dynamic AI team as a Data Scientist Independent Contractor and contribute to innovative AI-driven initiatives that enhance internal tools, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organization. This role applies AI technologies to analyze complex healthcare policy documents, design and improve AI solutions for data extraction, and shape intelligent systems that support critical business processes.

Responsibilities
  • Participate actively in the complete data science lifecycle, from problem framing to solution integration and monitoring after launch.
  • Stay updated with the latest AI technologies in ML / NLP / LLMs and apply them to solve business problems.
  • Design and optimize advanced AI solutions for extracting structured data from diverse payer policy documents.
  • Conduct rigorous evaluations and error analysis for AI outputs to ensure quality and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Integrate mature AI solutions into existing software systems and maintain them to address any quality issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and subject matter experts to understand business needs and frame problems properly.
  • Communicate requirements and guidance clearly between technical and non-technical teams.
  • Mentor peers on the latest AI technologies and establish data science best practices.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science / data science.
  • 5+ years in machine learning / natural language processing, with 3+ years in designing and developing LLM-based AI solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Proven expertise in working with LLMs for document analysis and data extraction tasks.
  • Experience with modern ML tools such as TensorFlow / PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain, and MLFlow.
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in database management, specifically with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience communicating directly with customers to align requirements with business goals.
  • Experience leading teams or projects to enhance quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge in healthcare insurance policy documents.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and regulations affecting AI applications.
  • Experience with cloud technology stack (e.g., AWS).
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and programming.
  • Experience in system architecture design.
Work Environment

This position offers a fully remote work environment with flexible hours between PST and EST. You will be part of a growing team that values autonomy and flexibility. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $69.71 / hr.
