About the team

eBay is looking for an experienced Senior Consumer Insights Manager to join Global Consumer Insights. This critical role champions the voice of consumers and leads global research for the Motors business (including automotive parts & accessories and vehicles), delivering insights that shape key business strategies and ensure consumer-centric decision-making. The role also leads the Global Consumer Insights Categories and manages two other researchers, creating synergies across categories. This position reports to the Senior Director, GCI, and is accountable for driving customer experience improvements for both new and existing customers across US, UK, and Germany.

Responsibilities
  • Consumer Insights Strategy & Execution – Translate business questions into research strategies; design primary and secondary research (qualitative & quantitative) to uncover consumer needs.
  • Partner with internal and external researchers and lead cross-functional global research projects to influence customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Synthesize primary research, behavioral data, and analytics to create an integrated view of consumers and potentially advise segmentation, product development, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Storytelling & Communication – Synthesize and distill insights into compelling executive-level narratives and present findings with confidence, clarity, and impact.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to champion customer needs, ensuring a deep organizational understanding of behavior and preferences.
  • Executive Partnership & Business Impact – Establish a regular cadence of executive insights discussions; build trusted relationships with senior leaders in Product, Marketing, Operations and Strategy to understand challenges and priorities, define the research roadmap, and drive actions through insight delivery.
  • Drive thought leadership and influence global decision-making by ensuring insights are culturally and regionally relevant while maintaining global consistency.
  • Team Leadership – Lead two other insights team members and build synergies of insights across categories.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of proven experience in consumer insights (not just analytics).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Market Research, Business, Statistics, Economics, Psychology or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of designing, planning, and conducting qualitative and quantitative research globally beyond the US.
  • Strong strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and influence business priorities.
  • People management experience.
  • Experience or a passion for the automotive category is a must.
  • Experience in online retail, tech, or marketplace ecosystems is highly desirable.
  • Proven success in navigating matrixed organizations and building cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent communication and executive storytelling skills, able to influence at all levels.
