The opportunity

EY continues to invest in our Responsible AI practice. We are seeking a Senior Consultant Responsible AI Data Scientist to join our growing Technology Risk Responsible AI team to help our clients integrate responsible AI considerations including fairness transparency reliability security and safety into their AI initiatives. You will assist engagement teams as well as work directly with clients in delivering AI governance and risk management solutions at scale evaluating the sufficiency of such framework related to AI model development testing and deployment to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver AI governance and risk management solutions for Responsible AI initiatives and supervise junior team members while collaborating with data scientists, data engineers, risk and compliance professionals.
  • Conduct Responsible AI assessments, staying current with risk governance, control frameworks, and ethical AI principles; advise on AI systems and policies for fairness, explainability, reliability and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and evaluate AI models and data for risk and insight; build and deploy scalable models, evaluate performance, fairness and compliance, and surface trends, biases and risks.
  • Research emerging AI topics and develop technical assessment approaches to support client engagements and evolving frameworks and methodologies.
  • Lead data acquisition and preparation, overseeing ETL of large datasets to create high-quality data foundations for assessments and analytics.
  • Engage with clients and provide advisory services; guide internal teams, mentor junior staff, and communicate insights to stakeholders; foster strong client relationships with compliant AI solutions.
  • Prepare detailed client-facing reports assessing AI-related controls and decision systems; deliver practical data-driven recommendations to enhance fairness, transparency and efficiency.
  • Contribute to service innovation and go-to-market efforts by refining Responsible AI offerings and developing materials for internal and external use.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in data science, analytics, model development, or applying data-driven insights in a professional or client-facing setting.
  • Proficiency in Python, R and/or SQL for data analysis and model development.
  • Hands-on experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
  • Experience building predictive models and performing statistical analysis, including working with generative AI systems.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Understanding of database systems and data architecture including SQL/NoSQL, data warehousing and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Ability to work with structured and unstructured data, including complex datasets.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Engineering; a master’s or PhD in a quantitative field is preferred.

Ideally you’ll also have (nice to have)

  • Certification in AI ethics, data ethics and responsible AI (e.g., AI Ethics Certification, Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate, Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer, IAPP designation).
  • Experience evaluating compliance with regulations and incorporating AI regulations and laws within engagements (e.g., DSA, EU AI Act, US AI guidelines).
  • Familiarity with NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 42001.
  • Professional services or consulting experience.
