Job description

As a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer, you will lead and execute small to large-scale engineering projects from conceptual design, through tender to construction and operation. Our portfolio includes water supply dams, hydraulic structures, municipal stormwater management, irrigation canals, flood protection works, earth retention structures, river diversion works, surface drainage facilities, hydro power facilities, slope stabilization and tailings dams.

Required Qualifications
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in the design and construction of dams, hydraulic structures, and other water infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design, tendering and construction of water infrastructure and civil works.
  • Experience completing structural designs in steel, concrete and wood.
  • Proficiency with application of building and design codes to structural designs.
  • Use of structural analysis software programs such as Midas, RISA and SAP.
  • Broad understanding of construction methods and constructability.
  • Experience administering construction contracts including completing submittals review and site inspections.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience in contributing to proposals, technical reports, construction specifications and project correspondence to convey technical information to clients and peers.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, and ability to lead others to deliver high quality project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the application of CDA and other dam safety design guidelines, and other industry recognized technical manuals or guidelines related to the design of hydraulic structures.
  • Experience in dam safety inspections, dam safety reviews, failure mode and effects assessments and risk assessments would be an asset.
  • Commitment to mentoring and training junior team members.
  • Collaborative team approach and ability to build long-term, successful relationships with clients and project teams.
