Job description
Position Description

The Senior Business Consultant – Retail Loan Origination (RLOS) & Corporate Loan Origination (CLOS) will play a pivotal role in advising financial institutions on transforming their corporate lending operations. This role focuses on loan origination systems, credit lifecycle optimization, and end-to-end lending process transformation. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain knowledge in retail and corporate lending practices in the Canadian banking landscape, combined with consulting experience and technology delivery expertise, to help clients achieve operational efficiency, compliance alignment, and improved customer experience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client engagements in the corporate lending domain, serving as the primary advisor for RLOS/CLOS transformation initiatives — from requirement discovery to solution delivery.
  • Analyze existing loan origination processes, including borrower onboarding, credit assessment, approval, documentation, and disbursement, identifying pain points and optimization opportunities.
  • Design target‑state lending workflows and digital solutions, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks, risk policies, and business goals.
  • Partner with technology, product, and operations teams to implement solutions that improve turnaround times, operational efficiency, and compliance.
  • Advise clients on best practices in corporate lending, including credit workflow design, limit management, collateral management, covenant monitoring, and document digitization.
  • Provide thought leadership on Retail, SME and Commercial lending trends such as digital credit decisioning, workflow automation, and integration with CRM and core banking systems.
  • Oversee business requirement gathering, process mapping (As‑Is/To‑Be), and solution validation activities.
  • Prepare and deliver business cases, proposals, and solution blueprints, clearly articulating the value of proposed changes and support the sales team in acquiring new clients.
  • Mentor business analysts and contribute to internal knowledge building around corporate lending and Canadian financial regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal RLOS/CLOS product and project development teams, and business stakeholders to ensure the solution meets both functional and non‑functional lending requirements.
  • Build and sustain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders such as credit, risk, and operations heads.
  • Contribute to product development by identifying new opportunities within the commercial lending space.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, information security, and management system standards as per organizational and Canadian regulatory expectations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field; MBA or Master's preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in business consulting or solution delivery within the corporate/commercial lending or banking technology domain.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Corporate Loan Origination Systems (CLOS), credit process re‑engineering, or digital lending platform implementations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian financial ecosystem (major banks, credit unions, fintech partnerships, and data providers) preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading large‑scale transformation or system implementation projects in financial institutions.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and business analysis techniques (BPMN, UML, user story writing).
Skills & Competencies
  • Deep understanding of retail/corporate/commercial lending lifecycle in Canada, including loan origination, credit analysis, approval hierarchy, documentation, and post‑approval monitoring.
  • Expertise in business analysis and process optimization specific to lending workflows and financial services operations.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into functional RLOS/CLOS solutions integrated with CRM, core banking, and document management systems.
  • Familiarity with Canadian banking regulatory and compliance aspects of corporate lending (e.g., OSFI guidelines, FINTRAC/AML, Basel III, IFRS 9).
  • Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, able to bridge business, credit, and technology functions.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, including the ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities with a data‑driven approach to performance improvement.
  • Hands‑on experience in business transformation projects involving process automation, system implementation, or digital lending platforms.
  • A consultative mindset with the ability to navigate complex bank organizations and gain stakeholder consensus.
