Responsibilities
  • Prepare annual financial statements reporting WorkplaceNL's financial position to all stakeholders.
  • Work with external actuarial and audit services to complete recording of benefit liabilities and audit requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of administration, capital and project budgets for management and presentation of comparative results, including justification and interpretation for presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) related to reporting and presentation of WorkplaceNL's financial position.
  • Maintain short and long-term cash flow preparation and pro forma development based on economic drivers such as employment trends and injured worker benefits.
Qualifications
  • CPA (Certified Professional Accountant) designation with 5 years progressive experience in financial statement preparation, cash flow forecasting and pro forma financial statements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently under multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel; knowledge of Oracle is an asset.
What success looks like
  • Guide junior staff to ensure accurate and timely recording, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with all areas of the organization to ensure accurate budget development and presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop knowledge of cash flow, forecasting, statistical reporting and injury fund monitoring (long-term investments).
