About the Role
As Spellbook’s Security & IT Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our security program and IT infrastructure, while partnering with our sales team to address security questions for our valued customers. You will primarily resolve hardware and software issues, manage IT procurement, oversee endpoint protection, and keep office IT running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Assist the sales and customer success team in answering customer IT and security‑related questions, including questionnaires and calls with customer IT or security teams.
- Help employees resolve hardware and software issues promptly and effectively, exceeding internal service level agreements.
- Assist with procurement and management of cloud services, software, and IT equipment.
- Manage device management and endpoint protection using tools like Microsoft Intune and Defender.
- Assist People Ops with IT matters, including employee/contractor onboarding, offboarding, and status changes.
- Address general IT requests submitted by employees and ensure timely resolution.
- Configure and manage existing and new cloud services utilized by the company.
- Conduct IT and security reviews of vendors to ensure compliance and security standards.
- Support compliance efforts related to IT systems, particularly SOC 2 and HIPAA requirements.
- Create and maintain documentation for IT processes, employee support, and security controls.
- Assist with access management for users, devices, and IT systems configuration using tools like Microsoft Azure AD.
- Automate and streamline IT processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Collaborate with teams to suggest improvements to the IT and security programs.
- Stay updated with developments in relevant IT and security practices.
- Support with other responsibilities and projects as required.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Information Security, Information Technology, Networking or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in IT support and managing IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cloud services, software procurement, and endpoint protection tools.
- Knowledge of security best practices related to IT operations.
- Familiarity with assisting the people team in IT tasks.
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills, and confidence speaking about technical subject matter with non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified) are a plus.
Nice to Haves
- Familiarity with compliance audits and working with third‑party auditors for standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Knowledge of incident response methodologies (e.g., NIST, SANS).
- Experience working with other business units to plan and execute large IT projects.
- Capability to participate in customer calls to address security‑related inquiries and concerns.
- Proficiency in delivering training and maintaining IT/security policies and awareness within the organization.
