Job summary

A local educational institution in Lacombe is seeking a part-time School Social Worker to support students with social/emotional challenges. Qualifications

  • Current registration with Alberta College of Social Workers or another professional regulatory body.

  • Training in suicide intervention such as ASIST would be considered an asset.

Job description

Assignment:

  • Part-time 0.60 FTE School Social Worker position
  • Duties to commence September 23, 2025
  • Assignment is located at Ecole Secondaire Lacombe Composite High School

Qualifications and/or Assets:

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Work is preferred
  • Must have current registration with Alberta College of Social Workers or another professionalregulatory body
  • Excellent crisis response and management skills(eg. comprehensive risk assessment, safety plans and follow-up care for students that experience suicidal ideations and other self-harming behaviors
  • 1:1 counseling and group supports for students with social/emotional challenges
  • Experience developing and presenting universal and targeted social emotional programming to various age levels of students
  • Contributes to the development and facilitation of school-wide initiatives to foster and promote school-wide mental wellness
  • Experience with online counselling and support for students and families would be considered an asset
  • Provides guidance and consultation to school personnel on the social/emotional needs of students
  • Referral and navigation of community resources and advocacy for student and family needs
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing work demands
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Strong interpersonal and case management skills(including consultation)
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication
  • Excellent organizational, time management and administrative skills
  • Computer literate
  • Efficient in a busy environment with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Training in suicide intervention such as ASIST would be considered an asset
  • VTRA training considered an asset
