Job summary

A local educational institution in Eskasoni is seeking a casual receptionist to support administrative operations. The ideal candidate will provide phone and front desk services, handle inquiries, and assist with general office duties. A Grade 12 Diploma and completion of an administrative program are required. Fluency in Mi’kmaq is an asset. This role involves flexible hours on an on-call basis.

Casual Employment Opportunity

The Eskasoni School board is looking for casual receptionists to be available for work on short notices. The role of the receptionist is to provide administrative and secretarial support to ensure efficient operation of the schools.

Hours

Hours/Day: Monday to Friday On-call basis

Responsibilities
  • Perform reception duties which include, answering the telephone, greeting visitors and general public, handling staff, student, public inquiries, presenting a positive image of the school when dealing with students, teachers and general public;
  • Greet visitors, parents, students, staff and public in a friendly and professional manner;
  • Record and distribute incoming mail and orders;
  • Type school correspondence;
  • Perform general office duties of filing, faxing, scanning, copying, printing;
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent;
  • Completion of administrative diploma or certificate program;
  • On the job training can be provided;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff and the public;
  • Computer skills, proficiency in word processing and email;
  • Fluency in Mi’kmaq is an asset;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Current criminal record/vulnerable sector check and child abuse check must be provided.
