Job summary

A leading construction firm in Halifax is seeking a skilled professional to manage schedule updates and communicate progress with site staff and subcontractors. Ideal candidates will have a degree in construction management or engineering, along with knowledge of construction specifications and strong communication skills. This role involves collaboration with project teams to ensure timely completion of schedules and effective stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in construction management, engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • Applicable scheduling certification an asset.
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures, and the ability to read and understand construction drawings.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understands project document controls and procedures.
  • Provides supporting information for schedule impact analysis.
  • Prepares quantity take-offs for production analysis.
  • Communicates with site staff and subcontractors about construction progress.
  • Completes site walks to verify the construction process.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Understands project document controls and procedures.
  • Includes contract requirements in the schedule as directed by the senior management team.
  • Provides supporting information for the development of schedule impact analysis for contract changes and project impacts.
  • Prepares quantity take-offs for production analysis.
  • Communicates with site staff and subcontractors to determine the actual construction progress and track that progress.
  • Actively listens and asks questions to capture extract information for schedule updates.
  • Completes site walks to verify the construction process against the schedule.
  • Supports the project team with schedule updates.
  • Supports interactive planning and scheduling sessions.
  • Updates the schedule logic.
  • Collaborates with field supervision on look-ahead planning.
  • Assists schedulers with monitoring and communicating the project schedules to the project team and district staff.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Values and models the solution provider and profitability culture.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in construction management, engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • Applicable scheduling certification an asset.
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures, and the ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts and proposal documents.
  • Knowledge of contracts.
  • Understanding of business acumen.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to construction challenges.
  • Working knowledge of maintaining project schedules.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with multiple stakeholders including estimators, field supervision, subcontractors, project team and clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while being flexible to changingneeds.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
  • Some exposure to scheduling software such as Primavera P6, EPPM.
  • Knowledge of the Critical Path Scheduling method related to the construction industry.
