Role Summary

We're looking for a Sales Manager who leads by example, drives business, and knows how to turn goals into achievements. If you're passionate about the automotive industry, customer experience, and team development, this is your chance to make a real impact.

The Sales Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving dealership profitability, customer satisfaction, and team success. Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sales department, this position ensures a high-performing, customer-focused team that consistently meets and exceeds sales and financial objectives.

The Sales Manager leads by example — fostering a culture of accountability, enthusiasm, and professionalism. Through effective coaching, strategic planning, and hands‑on leadership, the Sales Manager motivates the team to deliver exceptional customer experiences, maximize vehicle sales, and achieve strong gross profit performance.

This role collaborates closely with the Finance & Insurance team, Fixed Operations, and dealership leadership to ensure seamless processes, compliance, and sustained business growth. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership and communication skills with a deep understanding of the automotive retail environment, emerging market trends, and customer engagement strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive business growth through proactive strategies, consistent daily execution, and a focus on results.
  • Lead by example with a hands‑on, high‑energy approach that inspires and motivates the sales team.
  • Set, monitor, and achieve sales and financial goals through clear action plans and accountability.
  • Drive daily appointment targets to maintain strong showroom traffic and sales momentum.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop sales professionals, fostering continuous learning and peak performance.
  • Oversee efficient operation of the sales floor and finance office to ensure seamless customer experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance & Insurance team to maximize profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction and integrity.
  • Appraise and price pre‑owned inventory confidently and accurately to optimize turn and gross profit.
  • Manage CRM processes, lead management, and follow‑up practices to ensure high closing ratios and CSI/NPS performance.
  • Navigate retail financing options effectively, including Prime and Non‑Prime solutions.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with leadership on vehicle ordering, allocation, and merchandising strategies.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, efficiency, and team culture.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Handle customer escalations promptly and professionally, ensuring long‑term satisfaction and retention.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, brand standards, and company policies.
  • Promote a positive, high‑performance culture that reflects the values and vision of the Steve Marshall Group.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of automotive sales management experience (or equivalent sales leadership role in a related industry).
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire a team.
  • Deep understanding of vehicle appraisals and pricing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, dealership management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Valid VSA and driver’s license with a clean driving record.
What We Offer
  • Training and mentorship from industry leaders who are invested in your success.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Health and dental plan upon completion of the probation period.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Company events.
  • Friendly, team‑oriented work environment.
  • Opportunities to grow within the dealership/group.
  • Support from a high‑volume auto group.
  • A chance to live and work in one of the most desirable regions in Canada - beautiful Vancouver Island.
