Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Shingle Roofer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and commitment to safety. As a Shingle Roofer, you will be responsible for installing shingle roofing and related materials.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for making sure that they work in a safe and respectable manner at all times including the mandatory use of their Fall Arrest Safety Gear and PPE (Safety Footwear, Eye Protection, Ear Protection, Skin Protection).
  • Responsible for maintaining the high standards of appearance and workmanship on each site that is specified in the contract.
  • Responsible for replacing damaged or rotting joists or plywood upon discretion of the Manager and/or Supervisor.
  • Responsible for installing underlayment materials as specified for each contract.
  • Responsible for installing shingles, asphalt, metal or other materials to make the roof watertight.
  • Responsible for aligning roofing materials with edges of the roof.
  • Responsible for cutting roofing materials to fit around walls or vents.
  • Responsible for covering exposed nails or screw heads with roofing cement or caulk to prevent leakage.
  • Responsible for completing work within the specified timeframe.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe workspace and appearance at all times.
  • Must have all inspections fully completed daily and ready for the Roofing Manager and/or Supervisor to hand in on the required days.
  • Expected to have a constant flow of communication with the Roofing Manager and/or Supervisor regarding any problems, plans being changed, or problems with other staff.
  • Responsible for reporting any safety concerns to the Roofing Manager and/or Supervisor immediately.
  • Responsible for advising when maintenance to machines, or breakdowns occur.
  • Responsible for reporting to the Roofing Manager and/or Supervisor of any misuse or damages to any company owned equipment, or damage done or observed on sites.
  • Responsible for following the rules and practices set forth in the company employee Policy and Procedure Manual and the company Health and Safety Manual. Report those unwilling to do the same.
  • Responsible for notifying the Roofing Manager and/or Supervisor of any materials that you require in advance (day before) in order to keep things moving forward.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ask Questions for advice or about things you do not know.

Perform any other duties and tasks as may be directed by the Roofing Manager and/or Supervisor.

Education and Experience

Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent) – Courses in math, shop, mechanical drawing and blueprint reading are considered helpful.

Experience: Ideally 1 or more Years Experience.

Availability

Must be available Monday-Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and weekends on an as needed basis.
