Roads and Grounds, Operator – We are looking for a Roads and Grounds, Operator to join our multidisciplinary team at the New Stanton hospital in Yellowknife, NWT.

Responsibilities
  • The Roads and Grounds Operator participates as a member of the Facilities Management (FM) Department team, performing skilled maintenance and repair duties. Responsibilities include snow removal, grounds landscaping, laundry delivery, refueling and repair of snow removal equipment throughout the hospital and grounds. The successful candidate will contribute to hospital operations and projects by ensuring safety in all practices and following procedures, and will carry out work in accordance with territorial, municipal codes and department and hospital policies.
  • Provide strong customer service and interpersonal interactions; demonstrate problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Contribute to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.

Other Details
  • This position works 40 hours per week with possible weekends and on-call as requested by Manager.
  • This role requires knowledge and experience with equipment operation (e.g., loader, skid steer) and basic small engine operation and repair; other trades/tickets or certifications are a plus.
  • This position is outdoors; snow gear will be provided and the ability to work in cold temperatures is required.
  • Physical requirements include bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, crouching and lifting up to 45 pounds.
  • Represents the department with a positive and professional attitude and completes tasks in a professional manner, closing work orders within the required timeframe as per policy.
  • Communicates work status with client groups via the CMMS within the time frame given in the policy.
  • Adheres to and promotes Occupational Health and Safety legislative and corporate requirements and keeps/maintains records as required.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service training.
