Risk Analyst

Location: Hybrid, Kingston, York Mills

Empire Life is looking to hire a Risk Analyst to join our Risk Management team! If you are detail-oriented, creative, and enjoy solving problems, this may be the role for you. As the Risk Analyst, you will support risk management initiatives, coordinate major elements of the enterprise risk management program including risk identification and assessment procedures, monitor internal compliance, and recommend and action changes. You will work independently and in collaboration with relevant business stakeholders, with defined goals, reporting to the Director & Actuary, Risk Management.

The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $55,968 - $98,580. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only; fixed-term contract and casual roles are not eligible for annual bonus and would receive only the base salary component.

What you’ll be working on
  • You will develop, execute, analyze and maintain risk management processes and tools to support business goals and objectives of the Risk Management department and broader enterprise risk management program.
  • You will research and analyze risk management issues, develop risk metrics and trending analysis, provide guidance on methods and solutions to support business strategy development under the direction of senior team members.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to enhance and continue to evolve the risk management program.
  • Develop precise and thorough documentation for the processes that support risk management
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with line management and senior leaders to support the development, delivery and promotion of risk management programs.
  • Ensure compliance with current and emerging regulatory and governing requirements by reviewing existing processes and leading initiatives to ensure continued compliance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional and inter-departmental tasks to support the company’s business continuity management program
What we’re looking for you to have
  • 1 to 2 years risk assessment based work experience within the Financial Service industry (audit, actuarial, accounting, compliance, operations).
  • Ability to plan and prioritize multiple initiatives and work with relevant business stakeholders.
  • Active listener / excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strong self-initiative with ability to take ownership of challenges and take appropriate action.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database software and Power BI
  • Completion of a university degree in a program such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or Economics.
  • Commitment to continue professional development to support career progression and role competency.
