Job description
Position Summary

This full-time, permanent position will be responsible for assisting, and stepping in as Lead Manager when needed, in the day-to-day operations in one of our retail locations and support both the Retail Manager and Racquet Services Manager. This role will also oversee the training and development of our retail staff ensuring our high standards of customer service are achieved, as well as coordinate the activities of the staff during business hours.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day retail operations of the Toronto and/or Oakville store in all product areas and ensure all store processes are executed effectively.
  • Hire and train new sales and customer service staff and report on performance.
  • Resolve issues that may arise from customer escalations and complaints and authorize solutions.
  • Able to effectively coach and train staff in the areas of racquets, apparel, footwear and accessories and enable them to easily educate clients and increase overall sales.
  • Supervise staff to ensure the visual standards and image of the store, such as store displays and cleanliness.
  • Perform key holding and managerial duties, such as opening and closing the store, assist in development and implementing marketing strategies, and signing for deliveries.
  • Assist the Racquet Services Manager with stringing racquets, racquet customization and ensure both individual and team productivity and quality standards are met consistently.
  • Collaboratively working with the Oakville Retail Manager, Racquet Services Manager, E-Commerce Manager and all Managers across all areas of the business.
  • Be responsible for specified inventory procedures and inventory allocation between stores.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1+ years’ experience in assistant managing or managing in a retail environment.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching and motivating a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with specific focus on effective communication, conflict management and resolution, and a positive customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Specialized knowledge in the sport of tennis to assist clients with recommendations in racquets, gear and customer issues.
  • Specialized knowledge in racquet strings with the ability to lead and train the Racquet Services team when needed.
  • Experience working with Microsoft excel, word, publisher and a point of sales system.
  • Preference in speaking a second language.
