Job description

The Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) is the nation’s largest independent applied research organization offering unbiased, evidence-based information and analysis to both industry, NGOs and federal/provincial governments. We have one of the country’s largest private economic analysis and forecasting teams and are widely recognized for expert economic forecasting, modeling, and leading analysis. CBoC undertakes research to address the most pressing issues in Innovation and Technology, Human Capital, Sustainability, Immigration, Indigenous and Northern Communities, Education and Skills, and Health. Our social science research provides actionable pathways to solutions. Simply put, we deliver insights that help Canada’s leaders cut through the noise and make informed decisions.

We are seeking a Research Analyst to join the Human Capital team. Please note: This is a research role; not an internal Human Resources role.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office in Canada. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role. This includes internet service and a reliable connection.

On a typical day, you will:

  • Support several Human Capital research projects at the same time, including work related to workplace health and wellness, compensation and benefits, HR metrics benchmarking, and learning and development.
  • Develop high-quality data collection tools, including surveys, interview guides, focus group guides, and instrument testing protocols.
  • Program surveys in Voxco (or Qualtrics) and support survey testing, logic checks, and data validation.
  • Conduct qualitative research, including interviews and focus groups, and synthesize findings using NVivo.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis using SPSS or R, including cleaning datasets, running descriptive analyses, and generating tables and visualizations.
  • Summarize research findings in clear, well-structured briefing notes, slide decks, and reports.
  • Contribute to literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, and background research on HR-related topics.
  • Use project management software to track tasks, manage timelines, document progress, and support effective workflow coordination.
  • Collaborate closely with senior researchers and contribute to internal project meetings and planning discussions.
  • Support the development and updating of Power BI dashboards.
  • Collaborate closely with senior researchers to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are accurate and client-ready.
  • Participate in internal project discussions and provide updates on data collection, analysis, and progress.
  • Demonstrate CBoC values of collaboration, evidence, excellence, integrity, passion, and ownership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Human Resources, I/O Psychology, Business, Labour Studies, Public Policy, or another related social-science discipline.
  • Foundational knowledge of HR concepts, including workplace health and wellness, compensation and benefits, HR metrics, and learning and development.
  • Experience developing surveys, interview guides, focus group guides, and other research instruments.
  • Ability to conduct qualitative data collection, including interviews and focus groups.
  • Competence analyzing qualitative data using NVivo.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative data using SPSS or R (data cleaning, descriptive statistics, basic analysis).
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to summarize findings in a clear, structured, evidence-based way.
  • Experience programming surveys in Voxco (or Qualtrics).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for organizing and analyzing data.
  • Experience using project management software to manage tasks and timelines.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset and comfort working as part of a virtual team.
  • Clear, timely communication skills in a remote environment.
  • Ability to travel within Canada for occasional team meetings (minimal travel).
  • A professional and safe home office setup is required.
Assets
  • Experience supporting HR or L&D research projects.
  • Ability to create or update dashboards using Power BI.
  • Bilingualism (English/French).
