Job description

A leading mining and minerals company located in Goderich, Ontario is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a fully onsite position supporting the world’s largest underground salt mine and associated surface operations. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

The Reliability Engineer will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, optimizing equipment performance, and supporting the development of long-term reliability and capital strategies. This individual will combine strong technical expertise with sound business acumen to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability across the site.

The Role

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing reliability strategies that improve asset performance and reduce downtime. They will lead root cause analyses, champion data-driven decision making, and support maintenance and capital planning activities to ensure alignment with business objectives.

This role works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to deliver projects, improve reliability, and enhance the site’s overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment availability, productivity, and quality.
  • Utilize analytical tools such as SPC, FMEA, RAM, RCM, and RCA to drive data-based decision making and performance improvement.
  • Support maintenance teams in developing effective maintenance strategies using insights from CMMS data.
  • Manage small to medium capital projects from conception through implementation, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and execute reliability-focused capital plans and budgets.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering; or Engineering Technologist diploma.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a reliability or maintenance engineering role, ideally within a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • Proven experience managing capital projects, budgets, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to balance technical, operational, and financial priorities.
