Job summary

A leading mental health facility in Ontario is looking for a Resource Team RPN to provide nursing services across hospital units. The ideal candidate must be a registered nursing professional with experience in psychiatric nursing, CPR certified, and skilled in patient care. Bilingual candidates, especially in English and French, will be considered an asset. This role offers a chance to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Two years recent experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing is preferred.
  • CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years is required.
  • Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation is necessary.

Nursing Resource Team

As a Resource Team RPN, you will be available to float to all units of the hospital as required.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing;
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.
  • Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
  • CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.
  • Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients
  • Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team
  • Basic computer skills required
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading and writing. Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years recent experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing
  • Knowledge of mechanical lifts, transferring and positioning techniques
