Job summary

A local community organization in Southwestern Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide care for elderly and disabled clients. Applicants must be registered nurses in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and have at least five years of community nursing experience. This role supports clients' well-being while providing essential nursing services in their homes.

Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience in community nursing, particularly understanding First Nation communities.
  • Previous experience with clients, elderly or disabled would be advantageous.
  • Ability to provide proof of TB test and vaccination record if required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to elderly or disabled community members.
  • Assist family members in keeping clients comfortable and safe in their homes.

Under the supervision of the Home & Community Care Nurse Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse (R.P.N.) provides care for the elderly or disabled community members or those suffering from chronic illnesses. The Registered Practical Nurse provides care to Community Members to assist family member in keeping the Client comfortable and safe in their home for as long as possible.

Qualifications:

  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • At least five years’ experience in community nursing and an understanding of First Nation communities?
  • Advanced Nursing Footcare certificate or ability to obtain
  • Assets would include: certificates or experience with palliative care, mental health, motivational interviewing
  • Previous experience with clients, who are elderly, disabled or having chronic illnesses would be an asset
  • Competent with Microsoft Office software
  • An acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • A valid CPR and First Aid certification
  • A valid Ontario Class G drivers’ licence and with access to reliable transportation for work purposes
  • Ability to provide proof of TB test and vaccination record if deemed mandatory
