You will be responsible for administering medications, documenting client concerns, and promoting wellness. Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
  • Current Medication Administration Certificate.
  • Minimum of one year experience in Geriatric Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and administering prescribed medications.
  • Documenting and following up on concerns and complaints.
  • Promoting Client’s self-care and wellness.
  • Completing all required assessments and care plans.
  • Supporting unregulated care workers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Registered Practical Nurse, your typical day will impact in the following ways :

  1. Preparing and administering prescribed, routine medications and treatments as directed by the Physician and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.
  2. Documenting and following up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a Client, family, or team members and informing/seeking assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate.
  3. Promoting the Client’s self-care and self-sufficiency, emphasizing adaptation and abilities, promoting wellness, and providing preventative health education, thus treating the whole person.
  4. Completing all required assessments, RAPS, and care plans within the specified timeframes.
  5. Supporting unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training, and education.
  6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Must haves :

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
  • Current Medication Administration Certificate.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.

Bonus points for having :

  • Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an asset.
