About the Opportunity

The Registered Nurse (RN) practices within the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, is responsible and accountable for the nursing care of an assigned group of patients and their families; provides guidance and leadership to peers and other staff; works in a collaborative relationship with colleagues, unit staff, students and members of related health disciplines.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Current BCLS
  • Geriatric course (PIECES, NICHE, Geriatric Resource Nurse, Canadian Nurses Association Certification Program), or one (1) year of long term care experience
  • Alzheimer and Related Dementia Course, or willingness to take within one (1) year
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Evidence of ongoing relevant education
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationships with patients/residents, families and co-workers
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Long Assignment, Full-Time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Approximately 1 year
  • May be required to work weekends
  • Travel to other sites is required and must have access to a reliable vehicle
Compensation and Benefits

$40.55 - $49.99 hourly
$51.74 hourly with 25 years of nursing experience

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
