Our organization will be a pioneer in implementing the minimum Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios (mNPR) in BC. This transformative staffing solution aims to improve the working environment of nurses and provide better quality care to patients.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as‑needed basis.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:15 to 19:15, 19:15 to 07:15 hours.
SOGH is an active, rural hospital serving communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year.
There are 7 Emergency beds and it is staffed 24 hours a day with 2 RN’s on day shift as well as a 10‑hour triage nurse, night shift is 2 RN’s.
The acute care ward is 18 beds and is staffed with 2 RNs and 2 LPN’s on days and 2 RNs and 1 LPN on nights. The occupancy at SOG is regularly 100%.
This site was selected to be a pilot site for the implementation of the electronic Meditech Charting System, Advanced Clinicals. We have been a paperless ward for a few years and are one of the few that have achieved it in Canada and North America. Nursing and multidisciplinary notes, medication administration, and physicians’ orders are done electronically.
