Role Overview

The successful incumbent will meet the requirements of the position description for Registered Nurse ICU and act as a team member with responsibility for professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • Possess current BCLS
  • Possess current ACLS
  • possess a Critical Care Certificate from an accredited institution
  • Critical Care Response Team experience an asset
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and experience dealing with the general public
  • Assesses and provides education to patients
  • Experience in working as part of an interprofessional team
  • Supports physicians in developing the appropriate treatment modalities
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Participates in staff education opportunities and as an active member of the Critical Care Response Team
  • Computer skills an asset
  • Follows safe and healthy work practices and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs and adherence to health and safety policies
Physical Effort and Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment with multiple demands

Employment Requirements

Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check completed within the last year, within the first 60 days of employment. In addition, applicants must complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including providing an up-to-date immunization record within the first 30 days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff. Parts of the hiring process may be conducted virtually.
