Position Information

Temporary position until approximately October 15, 2027.

Rotation/Shifts

Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements
  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting;
  • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental education activities;
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess the patients learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;
  • Demonstrates a respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues;
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health professional;
  • Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment;
  • Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).

Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French- and English-speaking clients.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years medical surgical experience;
  • Current consolidation experience in cardiovascular care;
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring / arrhythmia interpretation;
  • Recent course in coronary care, critical care or UOHI Cardiac Nursing Series;
  • Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG;
  • Member of RNAO;
  • Member of CCCN.
