Overview

The Brant Community Healthcare System is a two-site Community Hospital located in Brantford and Paris, Ontario. Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of The Family Birthing Centre, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced-based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical nursing care to all clients in the labour and delivery and postpartum units of the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the labour, delivery and postpartum units in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, ethical, and patient-centered care.
• Participate in ongoing infection prevention and control measures and use appropriate PPE.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing.
• Coach, teach and mentor colleagues and students; establish and maintain relationships with external partners.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Current (2 years) experience in labour / birthing or recovery
• Neonatal Resuscitation Programme (NRP) or Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Certificate
• Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour certificate
• Perinatal Certificate
• Breastfeeding Certificate or Board Certified Lactation Consultant
• Able to perform venipuncture and IV starts
• Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or approved accommodation as per provincial directive
• Excellent patient assessment skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a teamwork approach
• Self-directed with the ability to work independently and within an interprofessional team
• Commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing
• Creative problem solver with a patient-focused approach
