The UAH and Stollery Children’s Emergency Department is a busy tertiary care level I emergency department open 24/7. This large Trauma Centre offers diverse emergency nursing opportunities from Pediatrics to Trauma Care. Registered Nurses work in a state-of-the-art facility utilizing electronic tracking systems, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for emergency patients. Decisions are made collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. You may be required to work in all areas of Emergency at the discretion of the Unit Manager/Charge Nurse. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your role involves utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, as well as teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families. You will support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, providing safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHS values.

Note: Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon registration as a Registered Nurse, pay will be adjusted to the applicable rate according to AHS/UNA agreements.

Required Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.

- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

- If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1-4 and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

- 2 years of med/surg experience or equivalent education and experience.

- Ability to stand for extended periods, assist in transporting, lifting, and positioning patients, and handle equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 1 year of Emergency experience.

- Recent nursing experience in a tertiary/urban centre and critical care in the last 2 years.

- Certifications: ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP (must provide before interview). Certified Emergency Nurse (CAN or CNE) is an asset.

- Demonstrated assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills.
