Job description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Early Childhood Educator to foster a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will have experience in childhood development, classroom management, and curriculum development, with a strong commitment to supporting children’s social, emotional, and academic growth. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, implementing educational activities, and collaborating with families to promote optimal development for preschool and toddler-aged children.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that are based on the children's interests.
  • Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Foster social-emotional skills through child everyday practices and effective communication skills with children.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan activities that support classroom management and enhance learning experiences.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding child progress, behavioral concerns, and developmental achievements.
  • Ensure compliance with childcare standards, health and safety regulations related to early childhood education.
  • Following sanitary practices including light cleaning duties.

Requirements

Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college / CEGEP / vocational or technical training
Credentials: Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate Level C

Must be registered with college of Early Childhood Educators (RECE). Only successful applicants (meeting the specified skills and qualifications) will be contacted for an interview.

Security and Safety: Vulnerable Sector Check, Updated Immunization records, health assessment letter (provided to be completed)

Skills Required:

  • Communicates in English
  • Knowledge of Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), licensing regulations, "How does Learning Happen?", "Think, Feel, Act"
  • Proven experience working with children in childcare settings; classroom experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively while fostering a positive learning environment.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting.
