Job summary

A childcare organization in Ontario seeks a Registered Early Childhood Educator to create a nurturing environment for children. The ideal candidate will develop age-appropriate programs and maintain safety and cleanliness in the classroom. Applicants should have an Early Childhood Education diploma and valid First Aid/CPR certification. Previous experience in a childcare center or with First Nation families is preferred. Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator

Term: One-year contract with potential to transition to permanent full-time

Department: Childcare Centre

Division: Life Long Learning

Salary: Competitive salary range

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexible to work three (3) rotating shifts between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Job Summary

The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children within the Childcare Centre. The RECE will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate programs and activities that foster learning and development, supporting the emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of each child. The RECE will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe classroom, managing transitions, and collaborating with families to support each child’s development. The Oneida Childcare Centre is dedicated to providing training opportunities and educational advancements.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the classroom, toys, and learning materials.
  • Assist with mealtimes, rest periods, and transitions between activities.
  • Manage behaviours, promote inclusive practices, and foster a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation related to children’s progress, incidents, and attendance.
  • Collaborate with families to support each child’s development.
  • Supervise children at all times and ensure they are actively engaged in learning experiences.
Education
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute and enrollment with the College of ECE; or
  • Registration in an Early Childhood Education Diploma program with an expected completion date within 2 years.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a childcare centre is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with First Nation children and/or families is considered an asset.

Requirements Prior To Starting Employment
  • The successful candidate must submit a recent Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within a 30-day timeframe), at their own expense.
  • The successful candidate must submit a negative TB skin test and a copy of their complete immunization records.
  • The successful candidate must submit a copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.).
