Job description

Amazon is a Fortune 500 company based in Seattle, Washington, and is the global leader in e-commerce. Since our start in 1995, we have significantly expanded our product offerings, international sites, and worldwide network of fulfillment and customer service centers. Our focus on the customer and innovation drives the growth of Amazon, offering our customers more types of products, more conveniently, and at even lower prices.

We are seeking a dynamic, organized self-starter to be a Regional Manager (RM) of Facilities Maintenance to join our corporate-based engineering team. The team comprises two other RMs and reports to the Facilities Maintenance Director. The primary responsibility is to manage and lead Facilities Managers and Facilities Area Managers (Shift Supervisors) to maximize equipment uptime, execute equipment maintenance, and manage projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced subject matter expert in facilities maintenance, workplace safety, and data-driven management and leadership. A background in MHE systems/applications, packaging automation, distribution processes, and storage systems is a plus. The candidate must be a self-starter, capable of managing multiple complex projects and tasks simultaneously, influencing others, and developing relationships at all organizational levels. The individual should also be capable of overseeing maintenance acceptance during the commissioning of large-scale, complex projects and providing technical leadership and mentorship to facilities maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Provide leadership, mentorship, and management to field-based Facilities Managers in the expansion and continuous improvement of Amazon’s North American Fulfillment Network.
  2. Drive maintenance best practices: innovate, document, improve work methods, standardize processes, ensure a safe work environment, train staff, commission equipment, and analyze key performance indicators to enhance processes and customer experience.
  3. Guide senior leadership on maintenance and equipment end-of-life (EOL) issues using ROI and other analytical techniques.
  4. Oversee budget development, execution, and capital planning.
  5. Manage vendor support and equipment relationships, leveraging Amazon’s network to maximize economies of scale.
  6. Conduct frequent on-site monitoring, auditing, and enforcement of maintenance and safety practices; implement and audit training drills across the network.
  7. Leverage the entire maintenance team for the benefit of the North American network.
  8. Develop and manage budget and contract documents, including RFPs, change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing.
  9. Provide Fulfillment Center General Managers with visibility into facilities management responsibilities to facilitate better leadership and mentorship.
  10. Recruit, interview, and hire top talent for Facilities Maintenance and Facilities Area Manager roles.
  11. Contribute to creating a world-class facilities maintenance organization.
  12. Willingness to relocate as needed for Amazon’s operational needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of maintenance experience or 2+ years Amazon experience.
  • Experience leading corporate or regional facilities teams with 250+ employees, including salaried staff.
  • Experience leading change across multiple sites.
  • 7+ years of experience managing employee performance.
  • Ability to travel up to 80%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication, team-building, and influencing skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
