The Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs works to provide overall management and direction to the Executive branch of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Department is responsible for coordinating and supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and actions in support of cross-government goals. The Department is responsible for ensuring mutually respectful intergovernmental relations between the territorial government and Aboriginal, provincial, territorial and national and international governments are maintained; along with negotiating and implementing land, resources and self-government agreements that address Aboriginal rights in the Northwest Territories.

Job Information

The Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs is seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to join our team as a Regional Coordinator, Governance and Service Integration. This position plays a key role in supporting regional service integration, governance processes, and partnerships with various governments, communities, and service providers to create changes in the way services are delivered to residents in the communities.

There are 3 positions located in the following communities:

  • Hay River, NT
  • Fort Simpson, NT

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a social science or health-related discipline, communications, public administration, or policy, along with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience:
  • A master’s degree (5+ years of post secondary education) in a related discipline (social science or health-related discipline, communications, public administration, or policy) and 1 year of related experience; or
  • A diploma (2-3 year post secondary education) in a social science or health-related discipline, communications, public administration, or policy, along with four (4) years of related experience; or
  • A certificate (1 year post secondary education) social science or health-related discipline, communications, public administration, or policy, plus five (5) years of related experience;

Related experience is defined as progressively responsible work that demonstrates knowledge and skills in:

  • Coordinating programs or services within health, social services, education, justice, or community development sectors.
  • Providing governance and administrative support to Indigenous governments, community organizations, or public sector boards and councils.
  • Implementing and evaluating programs or policies, including the application of legislation, standards, and guidelines to service delivery.
  • Facilitating collaboration between departments, agencies, and community partners to support service integration.
  • Engaging stakeholders through consultation, facilitation, and relationship-building with diverse partners and communities.
  • Preparing reports, briefing materials, and recommendations for senior management, governance bodies, or elected officials.
