Job description

Scotty’s is a growing employer focused on installing and maintaining commercial refrigeration systems. With almost a quarter century of experience we provide an essential service to some of the largest retail grocery chains in Ontario.

We are currently recruiting for Refrigeration Mechanics.

The role focuses on the installation, maintenance and repair of commercial refrigeration systems and all the underlying components and controls. Specifically, this includes:

  • Installs commercial refrigeration systems including removing existing equipment, putting in place new equipment, including installing and brazing the interconnecting refrigeration piping and controls, and completing a through commissioning that includes a through pressure test, deep evacuation, and refrigerant charging. Support of preparation of TSSA drawings and documentation is also required.
  • Delivers the preventive maintenance program including making recommendations for corrective maintenance discovered while doing the preventive maintenance. Goal is to ensure uptime, safety, uninterrupted client operation, and asset integrity requirements of systems are met.
  • In the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program, ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained.
  • Responds to service calls and diagnosing and correcting the root cause issue. This can include brazing repairs to piping and components, component replacement, and supporting preparation of estimates for larger repairs.
  • Performs work in accordance to established processes and practices in compliance with all internal and external requirements including, but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.
  • Maintains quality and accurate inventory of all assigned tools/equipment and arranges for repair and replacement where required.
  • Utilizes handheld devices to indicate status of work, inventory used and hours worked
  • Maintains a clean and stocked service vehicle
  • Submits all expenditures on a timely basis.
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience required as a licensed Refrigeration Technician with 313A licence
  • Strong ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration systems,
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
  • Must be available for rotation of on-call/standby for emergency call-outs
  • Must be willing to wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements
