The City of New Westminster requires dynamic and energetic auxiliary Youth Leaders (Recreation Worker 2) to work in the Youth Services Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. You will work closely with the Assistant Program Coordinators for Youth Services, encouraging youth to be active and social in the community by working at youth drop‑in programs, out trips and special events.

If you have some of the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you:

  • You have completed courses in Community Recreation, Child and Youth Care, Social Services or a related field.
  • You have experience engaging with youth aged 11–18 in a recreation environment.
  • You possess strong leadership skills with the ability to be an effective team player.
  • You have the ability to handle diverse situations with youth from a variety of backgrounds.
  • You have a valid First Aid Level 1 certificate.
  • Valid Class 4 BC Driver’s License and supervisory experience are assets.
  • You will be required to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

*The successful candidates will be scheduled for 10 to 15 hours per week and will be required to work after school, evening hours and weekends as operationally required.
