The Opportunity

The Recreation Manager delivers recreation and leisure activity programs within the AgeCare SkyPointe community and in accordance with AgeCare’s Mission, Vision, and Values/Guiding Principles.

What Is In It For You
  • Ensure recreational programming is designed to meet client needs specific to both neighborhood and individual assessment.
  • Drawing on your robust therapeutic skills, ensure that the Recreational Team develops, plans and implements recreational programming that has therapeutic balance and offers the appropriate elements of cognitive stimulation, social interaction, diversional and physical activity.
  • Ensure the department is operating effectively by managing the designated budget, reviewing operations and being involved in policies and procedures related to recreational therapy.
  • Be resident‑centered in your approach and model our values in all of your individual interactions and while representing the department in multidisciplinary Resident Care Plan meetings.
What You Will Need
  • Completion of a Recreation Therapy program from a Canadian accredited post secondary institution and registered with or eligible for registration with ATRA.
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership and Recreational Therapy experience in gerontology in a health care facility preferred.
  • Proven experience preparing assessments and MDS.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills interacting with clients, families and other Care staff.
