Position Summary

Dr. Gallant’s program of research focuses on improving the well-being of individuals who are aging with acute illness, chronic disease, and/or serious mental illness along with their caregivers. The Research Associate will contribute, by way of their academic expertise, to the projects directed by Dr. Natasha Gallant. The Research Associate will have the primary responsibility of carrying out research both independently and in collaboration with Dr. Gallant and her research team.

Responsibilities
  • Apply strong quantitative and qualitative research skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Assist with grant preparation
  • Write, review, and submit new or amended ethics applications, closures, and renewals
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data
  • Contribute to manuscripts
  • Attend regular team meetings
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and supervising of other researchers and technical personnel
  • Participate in various aspects of student research
  • Assist with some administrative and project coordinator responsibilities
Position Requirements

Education & Experience

  • A Ph.D. in aging studies, gerontology, health studies, psychology, or related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of research experience in the areas of aging, caregiving, dementia, and / or long-term care
  • At least 5 years of experience with intervention and / or program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Strong track record of academic publishing, including at least two first-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals

Research Skills

  • Proven expertise in quantitative and qualitative research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation using surveys and interviews
  • Proficiency with quantitative and qualitative data analysis software such as SPSS and NVivo
  • Experience working with long-term care residents, their caregivers, and / or care staff is a significant asset

Professional Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary environments, to be flexible and adapt to evolving project needs, and to resourcefully solve problems as they arise

Physical Demands

Pay Grade: As Per CUPE 5791

Research Salary Range: $31.19 - $38.46 per hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Status: Casual

Work Hours: Up to 10 hours per week.

Duration (if Term/Temporary): 1 year with possibility of extension

Full-Time/Part-Time: Casual
