Job description

Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently seeking a qualified Project Manager (full-time, permanent) to join our operations team on a Transmission Line project based out of St. Clair, ON. This role requires regular travel to project locations.

The Project Manager will be responsible for providing overall guidance and management to one or more construction projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements. The role also involves leading and overseeing internal requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and cost for all assigned projects. The successful candidate will have prior experience in industrial or powerline construction, with a strong understanding of project management processes, leadership skills, data analysis, and professional judgment.

Key Responsibilities

• Uphold Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromise on safety in all aspects of work
• Provide technical guidance to support project technical issues
• Guide field teams as required
• Prepare and transmit submittals for approval of technical issues, vendor documents, and material information
• Track and collect quality documents; address and document field quality issues
• Support development of field quality procedures
• Prepare and update project schedules, including recovery schedules and narrative analysis of critical schedule elements
• Prepare budgets, track and analyze costs, forecast, and develop plans to improve cost performance
• Coordinate resources efficiently as per project requirements
• Assist estimating team during estimate preparation with supporting documents
• Review and understand contract content and requirements
• Instruct and inform team members about contract requirements
• Communicate with clients regarding scope or term changes to obtain appropriate change orders
• Manage installation crews and support staff
• Prepare and negotiate change order information with clients
• Manage materials and subcontracts from pre-qualification to performance management
• Oversee general project management and reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in linear construction
• Experience in electrical transmission, pipeline, or industrial construction preferred
• Knowledge of construction office processes such as project setup, subcontract management, change orders, RFIs, and closeout
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Project Management, or related engineering discipline preferred; relevant experience considered
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Primavera P6
• Willing to travel and work in remote project locations
• Valid driver’s license and a clean 5-year driving abstract
