Job Title: Project Manager II

Overview

The Project Manager II is accountable for the management of project teams to ensure delivery of IT project goals and objectives against the established scope, cost, and schedule; being the point person for project delivery and project communications; resolution of issues and risks associated with the project; transition of new processes and systems to operations, including the facilitation of organizational change management, delivery of project documentation, and management of documentation repositories, and ensuring deliverables from external vendors are met. Working with Director of PMO to maintain project delivery standards and norms.

What you will be doing:
  • Work with the Project Sponsor and PMO to identify strategic drivers for projects and the benefits and measurements that will result from the project delivery.
  • Assist with development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Work with the Director of PMO to identify and evaluate options for the project approach. Criteria may include risks, benefits, complexity, and flexibility.
  • Plan, assign and direct the work of cross‑functional project team members. Team members may include operational and technical staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, activities, deliverables, and milestone due dates.
  • Manage project scheduling, estimating, forecasting, budget monitoring, and cost reporting for assigned projects.
  • Manage project issues and risks and lead in conflict resolution.
  • Ensure quality and completeness of the project delivery, including disaster recovery plan and risk management approach.
  • Coordinate and manage team resource allocation to facilitate optimal implementation timelines.
  • Develop and manage the approach for communications, training and change management.
  • Manage the planning and creation of required project documentation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business process and systems requirements.
  • Liaise with external vendor team(s).
  • Ensure the required documentation is completed as required, with emphasis on adherence to standard methodology and quality of results. Project documentation includes business and technical requirements, test plans, mock/pilot processes, operational user guides, and other documents as defined in the project plan.
  • Work with the Director of PMO to ensure adherence to operational standards and guidelines.
  • Work with IT leadership to ensure that any new solutions are aligned with the organizational technology strategy and technology standards.
  • May be required to participate in managing a formal evaluation process, such as a Request for Proposal (RFP) from external vendors.
  • Participate in the negotiation and review of contracts.
  • Produce regular project status reports as well as periodic update presentations to Steering Committees and other management staff.
  • Plan and manage operational handoff activities, including training and post‑implementation support.
  • Define and measure project performance indicators and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Conduct post‑implementation reviews to ensure continuous improvement and learning.
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the Information Technology (IT) industry.
What you must have:
  • University degree in the field of computer science or business administration.
  • Postgraduate degree in one of these fields is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of IT project management experience with at least 5 years in a Project Manager role working with budgets, complex systems and interfaces.
  • Experience in AI related projects highly beneficial.
  • Managing development and implementation initiatives involving enterprise‑grade applications, MS PowerApps, and various reporting tools.
  • Expertise with Smartsheet, Microsoft Project (or similar), and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Asset: Project Management Professional designation.
  • Asset: prior Business Analyst experience.

Salary / Rate Range: $89.00 – $110.00 per hour
