Job description

At McConnell Dowell we pride ourselves on using our ‘Creative Construction’ approach to develop innovative ways to deliver ports, jetties, causeways, breakwaters and coastal infrastructure throughout Australasia and the Pacific. As we continue to grow our Marine construction footprint in Western Australia, we now have an immediate opportunity for an experienced contractor-side Project Manager to join our team.

This is a senior, delivery‑led construction leadership role for professionals who have built their career on the contractor side, leading complex projects from mobilisation through to completion.

You will take ownership of the end‑to‑end delivery of marine construction projects, leading experienced engineering, procurement and construction teams. This role is hands‑on, commercially accountable and site‑driven, focused on buildability, safety, methodology and production, not advisory services.

What you will do
  • Lead live marine construction works from contracts award through to completion.
  • Manage subcontractors, program, cost and commercial performance.
  • Drive construction methodology, temporary works and sequencing.
  • Own commercial performance across cost, margin, variations and claims.
  • Build and manage client relationships as the key day‑to‑day contractor interface.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal engineering and delivery teams.
  • Play a key role in shaping how McConnell Dowell grows its Marine capability in WA.
What you will bring
  • Proven contractor‑side marine construction delivery experience (essential)
  • Demonstrated delivery of projects such as wharves, jetties and marine structures
  • Strong commercial acumen and subcontractor management
  • A track record of leading site teams safely and effectively
  • Relevant engineering or construction qualification
