The Project Engineer will provide technical guidance to ensure each project meets engineering and operational standards. This includes preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, providing specifications, and working closely with the project team and stakeholders to identify requirements. The candidate will support the Project Manager in developing scope of work, budget, and schedule. Ultimately, the Project Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams in the development of technical deliverables for the assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and engineering of projects, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Review and approve engineering designs to ensure they meet project specifications and standards.
  • Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and design development to procurement and installation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective project delivery.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate technical, operational, and safety risks.
  • Assist in the selection and management of contractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including plans, specifications, technical reports, and progress reports.
  • Monitor project progress and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, regulations, and company safety and environmental policies.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes to maintain high standards of work.
  • Assist with monitoring project costs and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, safety, environmental, and maintenance, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and adoption of new technologies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • P.Eng designation is preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of project engineering experience, preferably in the oil & gas, mining, or construction industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with computers and familiarity with software tools such as MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP, Primavera P6, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and risk management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required; infrequent presence during engineering and weekly presence during construction.
