Job description
Overview

The Project Controls Officer is responsible for providing cost, schedule, and project controls support to ensure the successful delivery of capital projects within the nuclear generating environment. This role partners closely with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain cost baselines, monitor budgets, track progress, and ensure compliance with project governance standards.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and facilitating project planning processes to support the delivery of program objectives.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating project cost baselines and budgets in collaboration with project managers and finance teams.
  • Performing project cost management in accordance with OPG’s project management governance, including forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Supporting project financial close-out processes and preparing change control documentation as required.
  • Setting up and maintaining alignment between source systems (AS9, EcoSys, ePMX, P6, etc.) and project control systems throughout the project life cycle.
  • Developing detailed project schedules and / or providing schedule oversight, integrating schedules into overall program plans.
  • Preparing and facilitating project performance reporting, including earned value management (SPI, CPI) and variance analysis.
  • Identifying risks and deviations from approved budgets and schedules, recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation to provide a complete, auditable record of approvals, changes, and close-out activities.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in project controls software and tools, with knowledge of Primavera P6 and EcoSys considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of earned value management techniques (SPI, CPI) and project metrics.
  • Experience in cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and interdepartmental workflows, with the ability to resolve complex or contentious issues.
  • Experience within a nuclear generating facility or large infrastructure environment in a project management support role is considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
