About the role

We are seeking a visionary Principal Product Designer (IC Director) to help lead our AI efforts and shape the future of building on the web, giving teams the superpowers to create experiences that interact with people on a new level of sophistication and personalization. This is a transformation of an entire platform at each stage of the development process, requiring deep collaboration across teams to strategize, explore, validate, and build solutions. The role involves deep dives into data, journeys, and technical architecture to build experiences and tools for diverse team sizes and roles.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of launching user-centric products that push the brand forward, operating at both strategic and tactical levels, and driving alignment across cross-functional teams and product areas. This person should be equally comfortable defining long-term vision and executing the details of design, and excel at distilling complex, technical concepts into simple, highly crafted experiences.

  • The cash compensation for this role is tailored to align with the cost of labor in different geographic markets. Base pay ranges are divided into zones; the specific base pay within the range depends on geographic location, experience, knowledge, qualifications, and skills.
  • United States (all figures cited below are USD and pertain to workers in the United States)
  • Zone A: $234,000 - $344,000
  • Zone B: $220,000 - $323,000
  • Zone C: $206,000 - $309,000

This role may participate in Webflow's company-wide bonus program. Target amounts are a percentage of base salary and vary by career level. Payouts depend on company performance against established goals. Reporting to the VP, Product & Content Design.

Responsibilities
  • Lead ambitious, strategic design initiatives focused on agentic experiences from new product features, subsystems, component-based design systems, and tooling.
  • Own and articulate a compelling vision that enables powerful creation, automation, and orchestration along the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Engineering, Brand, Marketing, Sales, and Data to shape cohesive strategic roadmaps, ensure effective go-to-market execution, and align across complex initiatives.
  • Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate innovative concepts to validate hypotheses, clarify directions, build alignment, and maintain momentum toward exceptional user-centered experiences.
  • Elevate overall quality, consistency, and trustworthiness of Webflow’s platform by establishing and expanding design standards, mentoring designers, and evolving design systems and user experience practices.
  • Act as an influential thought leader, informed by qualitative and quantitative user research, AI developments, and competitive strategies.

Webflow will support you in identifying your development opportunities and incorporating them into your role.

About you

You’ll thrive as a Principal Product Designer if you:
