Job description

Work with people who treat you like friends.

Imagine an office where everyone is watching out for you because they know you’re watching out for them. Our company sees construction as a team sport, so we care about each other as a team. That level of caring filters through investments in local community groups and charities because we also care about the communities we work in.

Michels Canada empowers your personal and professional growth, equipping you with the tools and support needed to create impactful solutions that shape a better future for others.

About us

Michels Canada is a nationally recognized general contractor in energy, infrastructure and power construction based in Nisku, Alberta, with offices in British Columbia and Ontario. We are part of the Michels Family of Companies.

The Michels Family of Companies is a privately owned global construction company with operations across North America, Australia, Singapore, and Germany. It is headquartered in Brownsville, Wisconsin, USA.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Preconstruction Coordinator to join our team in Concord, Ontario.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in construction, engineering, and proposal development. You will support the preparation of competitive proposals and preconstruction packages for large-scale infrastructure projects.

If you enjoy working with data, documents, and collaborating with teams—and want to learn how major construction projects are planned and secured—this role is for you. You won’t just assist with proposals; you’ll help shape how complex projects come together. It’s a great foundation for a long-term career in construction and infrastructure, with plenty of opportunities to grow as your skills and interests evolve.

Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of RFQ/RFP submissions, including proposals, technical narratives, and schedules.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain proposal documentation (forms, resumes, project sheets, safety records, certifications, etc.).
  • Coordinate inputs from estimating, engineering, construction, safety, and business development teams.
  • Assist with formatting, quality control, and compliance checks to ensure submissions meet owner requirements.
  • Maintain and improve internal preconstruction databases (project experience, resumes, templates, lessons learned).
  • Track deadlines, clarifications, and addenda during the tender period.
  • Help prepare organized bid and proposal packages for internal reviews and final submission.
  • Provide general administrative and coordination support to the preconstruction team.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field (or working toward one).
  • Entry-level experience or co‑op/internship experience in construction, engineering, or proposals is an asset, but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with InDesign or similar is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
