Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a dynamic and talented Theatrical Publicity Specialist to support our theatrical slate in Canada. This role will partner closely with our US and international teams to develop and execute publicity campaigns in Canada, serving as the primary liaison between Amazon MGM Studios and Canadian press. You will be relied upon as an advisor to business partners, filmmakers and PR colleagues on behalf of the Canadian market, and will support global campaigns while balancing cultural nuances. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the Canadian entertainment landscape, established media relationships, relationships with festivals and local cultural organizations, and a proven track record of successful theatrical publicity campaigns.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic publicity campaigns for theatrical releases in Canada
  • Lead press junkets in Canada, and source nominations from local press for global content days
  • Build and grow relationships with key media contacts, critics groups, cultural influencers, talent representatives, and industry stakeholders
  • Manage and coordinate talent appearances and media opportunities in Canada
  • Collaborate with US-based teams to ensure alignment with global publicity strategies
  • Monitor campaign effectiveness and provide regular reporting on PR efforts
  • Oversee word-of-mouth screening programs and tastemaker events
  • Brainstorm and execute stunts, events and activations in market to generate earned media
  • Manage regional festival strategy and relationships in concert with the global priorities
  • Manage regional publicity budgets and agency relationships
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including marketing, social, and digital
  • Coordinate and oversee work of any local agencies on events, press days, junkets, etc.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of theatrical publicity experience
  • Experience at a major studio, PR agency or entertainment company
  • Established relationships with talent agencies, publicists and local film festivals
  • Strong understanding of the evolving media landscape
  • Experience working across theatrical and streaming windows
  • Proven track record of frugal budget management and reporting
