IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is seeking a dynamic PLANT MANAGER for our client in Amherst, Nova Scotia.

Overview

Seeking a dynamic Plant Manager to oversee operations in a high-volume industrial mining and manufacturing union environment. This role requires leadership in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective processing of materials into finished goods, meeting quality standards, and driving continuous improvement with P&L responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all site personnel, providing clear direction and support.
  • Ensure efficient project management, cost control, and customer satisfaction within engineering and production teams.
  • Develop and approve production plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with plant objectives, inventory management, and shipment coordination.
  • Allocate resources (personnel, machinery, etc.) effectively to optimize production and minimize costs.
  • Manage maintenance shutdowns, equipment repairs, and associated costs.
  • Maintain plant efficiency data, operating instructions, and compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee departmental budgets and capital requests.
  • Drive employee performance, development, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high employee morale.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical) or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of industrial plant operations management experience.
  • Mining industry experience preferred
  • Proven leadership skills in empowering teams, promoting trust, teamwork, and open communication.
  • LEAN Continuous Improvement knowledge
